YIFY movie stream. The Conjuring 2 follows Ed and Lorraine Warren, the team of paranormal investigators from this films predecessor, as they travel to London in order to help a family dealing with villainous spirits in their home. While at the same time, are dealing with a mysterious supernatural being themselves. Put simply, the movie, like the one that came before it, is about ghosts, demons, possessions and all the things that go bump in the night and- what- have- you. At first glance, the plot may sound rather generic, however like the previous film in this now franchise, the movie manages to feel fresh and intelligent when compared to a lot of other current horror such as last years, 'The Gallows,' or 'Paranormal Activity; The Ghost Dimension.'Also alike the first Conjuring film, this movie also revolves around family drama and meaningful themes along with the spooks and scares. The drama is a nice element of the film as well, especially between our two leads. The characters feel human and even have moments of charm and heart. The writing shines here, letting us get to know these characters as we move along with them. Although we really come for the story and horror aspect, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga also get a chance to show the audience some of the character's quirks and make them likable. Impressively, The Conjuring 2 achieves to abide in a somewhat realistic state of reality throughout, despite the films subject matter. And though we sometimes know where the film is headed, it also keeps up with constantly staying unpredictable and arguably imaginative. The film manages to maintain an old fashioned, classic horror feel throughout its run time. Steadily creepy, the film is able to hold its audience in suspense and never really lets go unless it wants to. From the dark and atmospheric environment that the view is placed in, to the downright creatively artistic scares, The Conjuring 2 consistently feels nothing short of genuine. It's not full of cheap scares and it certainly doesn't play unfairly in a way that a lot of 'jump scare' horror does nowadays. The film simply presents the ability to unfailingly trick and surprise, managing to 'get you,' even when it's completely expected, successfully keeping unpredictable. Though there's still a sufficient amount of it, there doesn't need to be a spooky ghost that jumps in your face in every single moment of the movie. Director Jams Wan holds tension masterfully, holding suspense where he wants and often leaving it there, with a sense of dread flowing over the film throughout. A lot of this is due to the films technical work. Probably most notably is the fantastic set designs. The main house of which the story is set is full of scares waiting to happen. From a child's camping tent set up at the end of a long, dark hallway to a practically abandoned basement downstairs. I particularly appreciate that we see such things in normal 'UN- scary' circumstances as well as during moments of horror. The movies' clever use of lighting by keeping things in the dark and revealing them in a decisively untimely manner being evidence of the stark difference between the scary and 'UN- scary.'The movie presents us with these environments and patiently waits until the moment is right to set them up for refreshingly frightening scenes. This becomes more so frightening due to the fact that we have indeed seen these rooms before in a lighter sense, allowing us to see the contrast between the normal and the not- so- normal side of the house. Along with the set design, comes the character design. There is something about James Wan's movies that make his films so visually scary. The dark imagery that we are presented with in The Conjuring 2 is nothing short of being purely unsettling. Akin to previous films by Wan, we get some menacingly creepy monsters here, holding up to other memorable characters such as The Red Faced Demon and the Black Bride characters from the first Insidious. We learn about some of ominous characters and others keep mysterious and thus, stay scary as we do not fully understand them. Either way, they are arguably worthy of staying stuck in your head at night as you lay in bed. Complimentary to the visual horror throughout, the film also masters its use of misdirection and interesting camera work to give the film an unsettling and often times even nightmarish touch. The camera work contains variety and flair as we see different uses of slanted angles which make particular scenes feel uneasy and unbalanced, an interesting long- take early on which portrays a typical night in the household as well as strategic framing, we see this when we follow characters and where they are looking, while the camera purposefully plays ignorant to what's out of frame. We know that there is more at play in the background and all around, but the cinematography keeps us in cue with only what it wants us to see. The camera always knows where its audience's focus point, and often plays with this. Switching things up by hiding things in darkness or even just in the background where the audience may not even be looking during their first watch of the film - I have a feeling this is the type of movie where you'll notice more with each watch. It's subtle nuances like these which engrosses an audience. Another interesting element that I must say I wasn't expecting was quite a few moments of humor. For such a dark film, a few gags here and there give us a good break. And the film proved capable of snapping the tone right back to unnerving and frightening without it feeling jarring or abrupt. The movie was also not afraid to use silence to build up tension throughout. Making the audience of the cinema I was in awkwardly uncomfortable as we sat there in tightness, waiting for whatever was about to come and finally getting back to crunching on our popcorn as the noise began again. This right here is proof of the films ability to understand its' audience. In an almost rhythmic way, the film controls where you look and perhaps even sometimes how you breathe. The tactical use of silence, accompanied by a complimentary crescendo of creepy music was at times effective, however, I did not notice the use of score as much this time around as I did with the other James Wan films. But perhaps I just need to focus on that aspect more upon re- watch. One flaw I do have with the film is the brief moments of 'horror movie convenience.' I'm not sure what the technical word for it would be, but a couple times during the film, a character will say something or do something which may be a little UN- naturalistic in order for a scare or to move the plot along. Such as in an early moment in the film when an evil spirit shows itself and instead of freaking out, she sort of casually just asks . However, a reasonable explanation for this is that she is part of the Warren family and is perhaps used to this sort of thing.. So you know, maybe I should shut up. And maybe I should even delete this whole paragraph now that I thought about that explanation.. Yet here we are.. But really, the worst I can really say about this film is that it doesn't exactly bring much new to the table in terms of ghost movies, however where plot may remain simple, the direction and acting is impressive, (especially by young actress, Madison Wolfe, who really steals the show in terms of acting in this movie.) The film was a mature take on the genre. It's to be taken seriously and doesn't feel 'silly.' The biggest flaw in this movie is simply that it's more the same, but when it comes to The Conjuring - That's not really a bad thing. The first movie was fantastic. And its sequel is respectably on par. I've been a fan of director James Wan since early on; From his humble beginnings as co- creator of 'Saw,' to his explosive jump to multi- million dollar franchises like The Fast and the Furious and Justice League movies. Wan brings something special to his movies that make them feel very genuine, and this especially shines when talking horror movies. The Conjuring series thus far, has turned out to be an impressive franchise. The Conjuring 2 doesn't disappoint and is honestly already one of my favorite horror movies of all time.
